Vocal performance by Monica Meaux Hope, accompanied by her mother, Jazz pianist and educator Bertha Hope. My mother and I co-wrote a play, "Ashes From My Wings," which was well-received. Over the last 30+ years, I have been honored to share the stage with Mom Bertha and her trio or quintet, who have recorded on the cast album for my solo play. Mom Bertha will be performing at the Harlem Stage 40th Anniversary event on 4/26 and 4/27 with Jason Moran, Abdullah Ibrahim and other noted pianists celebrating Duke Ellington's 125th anniversary. I'm readying my NY Theatre Festival award winning play, "Healing Fractures: A One Woman Musical" for an investor's presentation by early summer. Stay tuned!
